The Razzcals are accompanied by some of the greatest names in jazz.  Featuring Bobby Shew, Bob Montgomery, Butch Miles, Ellyn Rucker, Ian Wallace, David Parlato, Gretchen Parlato, John Blackburn, Tim Ruger, Rob Wilkerson, and Tony Cesarano.

When director, Dave Adams, moved from Albuquerque, NM to Virginia Beach, VA, the Razzcals that had begun in NM became involved in their high school big bands, they formed combos and continued to pursue the music they loved.
In Virginia, Dave started up an east coast version of the Razzcals and received sponsorship from the Academy of Music in Norfolk, VA.
Finally, in 2001, at the prestigious Telluride Jazz Celebration, East met West in a Reunion Performance on the main stage.  Many of the cuts on this CD are greatest hits played collaboratively by a collection of the NM Razzcals who had retired  from the program and were now getting ready to begin college, or were in college now and the newest Razzcals from VA who were beginning the Young Razzcals Jazz Project - thus, East Meets West!

Young musicians from the Achievable Dream Academy Middle School
along with members from the Young Razzcals Jazz Project.
This was recorded after these musicians had been playing
their instruments for only 8 months.
 
 

Recorded in 2003.
The Achievable Dream Academy collaborates with members of the Young Razzcals Jazz Project along with jazz greats Richie Cole on alto sax and Bill Chizek on trombone.
Richie cole is best known for his arrangement of the "I Love Lucy" theme song.  He was also the director for the group, The Manhattan Transfer.  He was the arranger for the group's popular version of 'Birdland'.

The Birdland Express is a high energy, mainstream jazz group that plays from Bee-Bop and Latin to Swing and the contemporary sounds of today's smooth jazz.
